Hi, I'm Clem 🍊

I'm French but I've been living and working in the UK since 2004.

Growing up in France, completing all my education in French and then working in the UK for my whole adult life gives me a unique perspective of both places. I know how people think in both languages and know the two cultures like the back of my hand (or the bottom of my pocket as the French would say). I'm also bringing up two bilingual, bicultural daughters with my British husband.

Translation wasn't always my career: after taking a PGCE at the University of Birmingham, I taught French at secondary school for 10 years. A great way to analyse how language works and changes over time.

In 2014 I became a freelance translator and never looked back. I'm a Chartered Linguist and Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (MCIL/CL) and a Qualified Member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (MITI) and I've held dual French/British nationality since 2023.

As if running my own translation business and bringing up a family wasn't challenging enough, I also like to take on challenges in my personal life. If you live near the Dorset coast you might spot me out clocking up the miles in my Lands End to John O'Groats virtual walking challenge (I did the Tour de France one last year), or snuggled up in a cosy nook at a café reading the next book on my Goodreads reading challenge list (52 books in 2025).
